Kommunity Kare

Care extends beyond the therapy room. Kommunity Kare is the community outreach and giving arm of The Kindness Korner.

As a social worker, I believe care extends beyond the therapy room. I am committed to using the resources, knowledge, and opportunities available to me to make support accessible to the best of my ability. Through education, community support, and direct assistance, Kommunity Kare is one way I put that commitment into action.

Kommunity Kare initiatives primarily serve individuals and communities throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region, unless otherwise noted. Eligibility, availability, and geographic requirements vary by initiative. Kandid Konversations is available virtually to MSW programs nationwide.

Kandid Konversations

A no-cost initiative for MSW programs and social work classrooms. I volunteer my time to speak with MSW students about career readiness, navigating the transition from student to professional, identifying transferable skills, and social work licensure test preparation. There is no speaking fee for MSW programs or classes.

How to Access

MSW programs, faculty, or student organizations interested in scheduling a Kandid Konversation can send an email or complete the website contact form.

Girl Talk

A free group initiative designed to create a supportive space for girls and young women to connect, build confidence, strengthen emotional wellness, and have meaningful conversations about the experiences that matter to them. Girl Talk runs during the spring season. The next cohort opens Spring 2027.

Holiday Konnect

A seasonal initiative bringing warmth and support to the kommunity during the holiday season. Holiday Konnect is KèIra's effort to provide Thanksgiving groceries and coats to individuals and families in need — meeting practical needs during a time of year when community matters most.

Holiday Konnect is a seasonal initiative. Details about availability, eligibility, and how to receive support will be shared when the program launches each year.

Disaster Relief: Grocery Support

When natural disasters or other emergencies create unexpected financial hardship, Kommunity Kare may provide grocery assistance to help individuals and families meet an immediate basic need.

How to Access

Disaster relief assistance is offered in response to specific events as they occur. When assistance becomes available, information about eligibility and how to request support will be shared.

Government Shutdown Support

During government shutdowns, Kommunity Kare may activate additional support for individuals and families experiencing financial uncertainty. Previous efforts have included free therapy sessions and grocery assistance.

Government shutdown support is activated as needs arise. Details about available assistance, eligibility, and how to access support will be shared when an initiative is launched.

Licensure Prep Access

An initiative designed to reduce financial barriers to social work licensure preparation. Eligible emerging social workers may receive financial assistance toward an ASWB exam-prep resource or study product, helping increase access to the tools needed to prepare for licensure.

How to Access

Applications open during designated application periods and are available while program funds remain available.
